About Me

My name is Miss. Krissy Wallman and I am in my final semester in the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina. I was born in Nipawin, SK and lived for the first nine years of my life in Choiceland, SK. In June 1994, I moved to a smaller town of Nokomis, SK where I graduated in 2003. In 2003, I was accepted right into the Faculty of Education to pursue my dreams and ambitions of becoming an elementary teacher. I took great interest in the Early Childhood Education section (pre kindergarten – grade 3); as well as one day getting my diploma for Special Education.

I come from a small family consisting of my mom and dad and older sister.  My family is pretty close to one another and we try to stay in contact with the new information that is arising everyday.  Back in 1999 I began working on a family tree album.  I started off simple with just gathering information but as the technological world advanced with scanners I added pictures with the information.  By December 2004 I completed the first edition of the family tree book and I distributed amongst my family members.  As 2008 swings around I began doing updates of our family and the new edition will be set on a hard disc and a cd rom with a slideshow that will be created for the pictures.  Its a lot of work and dedication but the ending result is wonderful.

I work at Valley View Centre in Moose Jaw as a casual for the past 1.5 years. It is an awesome job.  A lot of people may work at this care facility for the money, but its a lot more than just the salary for me.  I love the residents and their many qualities and characteristics they share.  I love learning new things about them and the surprises they have.  I also love sitting around with them and communicating and getting to know the person they are on the inside.  This is one reason why I am so interested in getting my Special Needs Diploma because I feel that just because of a disability they also have feelings, emotions, ideas, expressions, and more just like we do.  Also, I have been involved in the Best Buddies program in Regina. It is a great program to be involved in as it socializes you and an individual with a special need into the community.

  1. Well helllooooo Ms. Wallmen. That is amazing that you work at Valley View. I live in Moose Jaw as well and have tried to get a job there in the past. It must be very rewarding at the end of the day. My fiance is in his 3rd year of Elementary Ed and I am in my 3rd year of Arts Ed – We have been joking around lately about how many amazing resources we have together. If you ever need any Arts resources for little people please do not hesitate to contact me:)

  2. Hi you are in ECMP class right? Ya Valleyview is a rewarding job for sure! I have lived in Moose Jaw for the past 1.5 years and I guess its alright. this city was a lot better when I was living in Regina though hehe. Have you applied for summer relief at VVC or as casual? They are always hiring casuals and almost anyone that can stomach and handle the job get accepted. I can check when they hire casuals again. You are in your third year so next summer in about March or so go to the front desk and get an application form (they hire a lot of summer students but most quit after orientation). As for casuals they will most likely be hiring in November again. Third Year students that is awesome. So has your fiance completed pre internship? or going into internship? What grade level is he looking at I have done grade 2, prek and kindergarten so i might also have some resources that he may like. That is awesome he is in the elementary ed program not many males are. As for you I am quite interested in what Arts Ed offers? Does that mean you are a teacher for any grade? Or would you be an art teacher or how does that work? Thanks for the offer.. after this semester I hope to have my own classroom… :D
